Sura is one of the most energetic students in Forest School! He diligently practices and hones his basic skills daily, and will eagerly head to the Forest School Group 3 area without babysitters leading the way. He spends the majority of his time climbing trees, and will occasionally sleep over in the forest for one or two nights together with friends. Sura is certainly making some fabulous progress!
Sura arrived at Nyaru Menteng on October 17, 2013, when he was just four months old. Not only had he suffered the tragic loss of his mother at a very young age, but also lost three fingers on his left hand. His wounds, which were thought to have been caused by a blow from a machete or knife, were swollen and badly infected.
Sura’s hands have since healed and he is currently in great health.
